I bet you’ve already seen and heard a great deal about dog tag necklaces, especially nowadays that they have turned into a hot fashion accessory. But do you really know where and how this tradition of wearing tags all begun?
During the Civil War, soldiers attempted to look for means wherein they ca
n keep and let information about them be known if ever serious injuries or fatality takes place. They then discovered that army dog tags are the answer to their problem; hence they started putting it on during this period.
This military accessory is formerly called “Soldier’s Pins,” and is made from an army’s own stuff. After quite some time, the usefulness of wearing a dog tag necklace had become so apparent, that on 1913, it became obligatory to all soldiers as ordered by the Federal Government.
